Flatbush Zombies "D.R.U.G.S." Review
What’s up guys! Sir Crooks coming at you with another mixtape review. This time I have some new homies that go by the name of “Flatbush Zombies” and their tape is called “D.R.U.G.S.”. They come from FLATBUSH in Brooklyn, obviously. These guys caught my attention back in January when they dropped the “Thug Waffle” music video (you can watch it below). The members of Flatbush Zombies are Meech, Juice & Erick Arc Elliot. Now to the mixtape… what can I say, this is MORE than what I expected. Erick caught most of my attention because his production on “D.R.U.G.S.” is AMAZING. His beats are different, but they fit Meech & Juice’s flow so perfectly. I’m pretty sure the group will have a lot of new fans after this. I also like how I’m starting to see more rap duos and trios in the game. Not rap empires like MMG, G.O.O.D. Music, etc., but actual rap groups. Anyway, go give these guys a listen because the ZOMBIES ARE OUT!!!! - Sir Crooks

Cyhi The Prynce "Ivy League" Review
Yess!!!!!!!!!!!! Finally!!!!!!! After months of waiting and hoping that the internet rumors of him getting dropped from his label weren’t true, one of my favorite G.O.O.D Music artists, Cyhi The Prynce, finally released his “Ivy League” mixtape, and he does not disappoint. From the moment that you hear the clip from the 1989 classic movie “Lean on Me” in the intro, the mixtape got better with every song. Content wise, Cyhi is very consistent; strong lyrics and flow is his forte. He had an array of guest features on this tape, with the most notable being Yelawolf. Yelawolf’s verse on “Drank & Smoke” (track 11), was the stand out verse of all the guest appearances. The production on this mixtape was superb. I was especially impressed by the production done by a group called Elusive Orkestra. Elusive Orkestra did the production on “Tool” (track 10), “Feet Up” (track 15), and my personal favorite, “Entourage” (track 19). Shout out to Elusive Orkestra member Alejandro Fuego. This mixtape was well worth the wait. I’ve always told people that Cyhi The Prynce was the most slept on member of the G.O.O.D Music team. He tends to get overshadowed by the more commercial artists like Big Sean, and recently added 2 Chainz. Hopefully this mixtape solidifies him as a pillar of the G.O.O.D Music franchise as I believe he is. – J_GranT
Childish Gambino "Royalty" Review
Donald Glover or should I say Childish Gambino
dropped his new mixtape “Royalty” a few weeks ago on July 4th. I
wanted to take my time and review this excellent piece of work Mr. Glover did.
As most of “us” should know Gambino really showed out on this tape. It’s A LOT
different from his previous tapes in my opinion. One thing I want to point out
is that most of the tracks such as “One Up”, Shoulda Known”, &
“Unnecessary” were produced by Gambino himself. I was totally surprised how
talented he was from a producing stand point. Another thing about this mixtape
that is different is that Royalty feels more hardcore. He has lots of features
which are good, but I feel like it took away from the “old” Gambino.
Nevertheless, this mixtape is a must if you’re a fan of Mr. Glover. His lyrics
are on point, production is sick, & it’s a more hardcore version of
Gambino. – Sir Crooks

Charles Hamilton "ill Doesn't Mean Classic" Review
Well, as we all know Charles Hamilton isn’t the most tightly wound screw but there is no denying his talent. His unique production style is dope and highly creative. Listening to the mixtape the lyrical content, rhyme pattern and the over all thought process appears to be sporadic and scattered like he’s on drugs……again. But in all actually this is probably just a refection of who Mr. Hamilton is in real life. The mixtape is dope as only Charles Hamilton can do. Track 5 “A Lot” explains the direction of the tape. The track stands out because you don’t particularly catch the direction of the beat until Charles explains that he’s using the bass in the Barry White sample as a snare (fucking genius!!!!). This is classic Charles Hamilton! The mixtape is solid. It’s nothing to rave about but it’s a great listen if you’re into super creative rappers/producers.- J_GranT

Joey Bada$$ "1999" review
Well after hearing about Joey Bada$$ a few months ago and hearing him on America (a
track off of Mac Miller's "Macadelic" mixtape) I couldn't wait for the
young Brooklyn MC to release a mixtape of his own. "1999" did not
disappoint. Bottom line is, the kid is dope........for real. His flow is
reminiscent of the golden age of NY Hip-Hop, when rapping was all about
style and word play and not cheap gimmicks. There's been a few Nas
comparisons........ehhh,I can see where there coming from but I think
its too early in the game to be putting the kid on a pedestal next to
Nasir Jones. All in all, this kid is a lyrical monster for his age. The
production on the mixtape was done mainly by Joey's Pro Era crew with
the exception of two tracks produced by MF Doom , two produced by
J.Dilla and one by Statik Selektah. Mostly notably the production done
by Pro Era's Chuck Strangers was superb. I recommend this mixtape to
anyone who loves Hip-Hop in its purest form: tight lyrics over dope
production.- J_GranT

Nas- 1991 Demo Tape
So its only right that the first item to go into the D.O.C vault is my one of my favorite MC's (and one of the dopest MC's of all time) demo tape. Hitting the streets in 1991, Nas's demo tape solidified him as one of Queen's Bridge's star up and coming rappers.
